Knitting - And a Good Time Was Had By All!
I can't tell you when the last time was that I laughed so hard my stomach and back were aching. Now I can say it was August 5th, 2006. It all started with a ride to Gourmet Yarn for a sock class in Jan's brand spanking new Humvee! I told Jan I'm not use to the other drivers on the road looking at when my crazy driving wasn't involved. We it made to the sock class on time which surprised Margaret - but we still had our happy meals to eat. And guess what the prize was - a HUMVEE! I think Jan ended up with all of them.
This sock class was different from the one I had before. This is called Sock Toe Up. We start at the toe and finish at the cuff. Most sock patterns are reversed. It was a great class - in spite of what anyone else tells you. Jan, Karen, Kay, Anita,Cathy and I probably drove Margaret to drinking. We were like young school girls again, and the language! Well, let's just say some things were said under a certain someone's breath that we all could not hear. Learning to knit socks can be very frustrating - but fun when in a class of good friends.

I started laughing and they all looked at me as I held up my two rows of sock YARN HARLOT STYLE!

Then we all got into the act. I told you we were silly girls.( Oh, it gets better.)
Anita and Karen started acting up. So far they have knitted NOSE WARMERS!
We took a short break after class and BAM! it was like an invasion of the women knitters! They came bearing us gifts of food and drink.
Huh? You mean that was for everyone and not just us? Oh well, it was all very, very good. Several of the ladies will be sharing their recipes in a cook book that will come out in the near future.
This is "Rosemolly" (her real name is Rosemary- but we changed it to Rosemolly because of Molly Weasley in Harry Potter.) She is proudly displaying her Gryffindor House scarf. It is so very soft. She did get a chill and
used it to warm herself up as well. Rosemolly is a very talented knitter and crafter. She teaches herself a lot of different things and I envy her.
I worked on socks, finished a wash cloth (not a rag) and worked on my Koigu scarf.
If all works out right, at the end I cast off two and let the other stitches drop. If it doesn't work out right, I will pick the stitches back up on the needle and finish it off as it. It takes TOO long to knit this fine of fiber.

I forgot to mention how knitting with a group of ladies can be VERY educational. One lady is known as "Miss Trivia". It was quite interesting what we learned today. Now if I can only get asked the question - I have the answer!
Now I am rested from all the jocularity (it's a MASH 4077 word) and ready to press on writing school papers. (Not really - but I will do it.)
Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday! Hope you don't burn up like we will.
Arrivederci!

This was such a fun knit in and I just love the nose warmers. Even so, I won't be coming to the Dark Side anytime in the near future - LOL!
Terri, the last time I laughed that much was when Stephanie was here. I hate that you missed it. Maybe you and Karen need to put your "scenes" together and create a show and go on the road. lol
I think I'm starting to recoup enough that I can stop drinking....
Love the pictures! It looks like a fun time was had by everyone. : )
Have a wonderful week...
Shelly
