Never lose your girlfriends

I had a wonderful week last week with my girlfriends. It was perfect all week long. We arrived on Sunday evening and arrived at the "Cabin" late (10:30pm). The "Cabin" is a LOG HOME - 3 bedrooms, full kitchen, living room, utility room, balcony, hot tub (didn't work) and a wrap around proch. Deer came up to the house in the morning. Andrea's in-laws own the cabin and were thrilled that we wanted to use it. We had so much with them. All the splendor of Autumn was in it's full glory in Little Washington, VA.
We had a very wet visit in our walking tour in Washington D.C. It took us about 5 hours to get there - ha. We missed our train on the VRE due to rain and traffic. We were to take a tour of the Capitol and the Library of Congress which we missed. We had a wonderful dinner at Phillips,
Seaford Buffett. We enjoyed the rides on the Metro and the people that helped us. We explained to one Metro worker that we were celebrating our 50 year birthdays and he replied "Go Head On!". That became our motto the rest of the week. The picture is of the driveway- lovely!
We spent the afternoon in Alexanderia on Thursday. Then we visited with Hilda for tea on a very foggy day. The ladies enjoyed it so much. Colin was such a delight this evening. Dinner was wonderful as always. Hilda was so generous in giving each one of us a package of shortbread. On the ride home we declared that we were all going to be very selfish and take our shortbread home with us.

We took a nice drive up Skyline drive in the Shannondoeah Valley. It was very windy and very cool - cold. We saw a black bear cub and many deer. We had dinner at the Lodge. Here we are reading the menu in our fashionable reading glasses. Too bad we did not have our buck teeth in at the time. Just "Girls Behaving Silly".

We all left Saturday morning and were pretty much ready to come home to our families. The week was one big slumber party. We stayed up late - slept in, ate and enjoyed glasses of wine. We are all in agreement that we will be doing this again.
CIAO DEAR FRIENDS!
