Thoughts of the Day

I went to a funeral today for one of my best friend's father, Mr. M. I didn't realize that it would be so hard for me to be there in the same church which we had my father's service in. It brought back so many memories and thoughts.

I looked around the hundred or so people, some I remembered, some I didn't know at all. I saw men and women who were pillars in the foundation of our church. So many are either gone or are not able to come to the church. I saw the women gather afterwards catching up with each other. I saw Mrs. B who had just lost her son, Phil, two weeks ago. I saw women without husbands and some with, they all came to send their friend on to his new journey.

I looked at the family with such great Pride. They are a strong family and I will keep them in my prayers. So many childhood memories came back to my mind today. The traditions we celebrated in school, the celebrations we all shared together with our families. The siblings we all knew and grew up with as well. So many thoughts rushing back into my mind that I understand this is life. This is what we do, where we go and who we are with. Family and friends are what makes us who we are and for that I am thankful.
