Clapotis Tea = Clap-O-tee Tee

Last year I talked with MG at Gourmet Yarn about having a Clapotis Tea. It seemed like everyone was knitting one and I love a good tea. MG thought it was a great idea and off we went. We waited until after my vacation last Sept. and then the holidays. MG thought it would be good in the winter time and it gave knitters a chance to start/finish a Clapotis. I'll be honest with you - I was being a stickler on you had to have a Clapotis or one in progress to come to the Tea. I thought it should be a special event for those who worked hard on their Clapotis. As you can see we had lots of goodies to eat.

We started arriving at Gourmet Yarn early and MG already had the table set for us. She didn't think we would have very many show and I didn't count how many of us came to the tea - but there was about 20-25 ladies there. Some came with partial Clapotis around their necks with needles still in place.
Sassycat (Marjie) brought this darling little hat to finish off the pom-pom. She received lots of raves on it. As you can tell by the work in the hat - Sassycat is a very good knitter. I have appreciated all the help she has given me over the years.

My dear KS friend, Pam, gave me a glass tea pot and flowering tea pods for my birthday. See the pod? Wait for it......

After steeping for 5 minutes the pod opens and reveals a pink flower. The tea was very nice and calm.

I think Bev knitted the most Clapotis' and she brought 4 of them with her. I dubbed her Cousin It. Bev calls one of the Clapotis (I hope I get this right) - Clapoafghan.

It was fun to see all the different yarns used to make this scarf/shawl/wrap. MG had us go outside for a group photo - so check out her blog for pictures. Carol did something different and it makes a very interesting pattern. She didn't drop the stitch she purled the stitch instead (see the Clapotis on the left).

Then we made a "Pile of Clap" by laying all the Clapotis' in a pile on the bench. It looked like someone melted Cousin It.

We drank tea, ate some very good goodies, cussed and discussed the making of a Clapotis. Would you believe that some knitters don't even have to look at the pattern? I don't know if I'll make another full Clapotis, but I do want to make a shorter version which is a scarf.
Ciao!

I wish I had started a Clapotis and come to the tea party - from the pictures, it was great fun. I am currently using that terrific group photo as the wallpaper on my laptop.
I'm sorry, but I have to ask, Terri - what is that big round thing on your head?
Love ya,
Sue
