Familiar Sounds, Smells and Memories
We are enjoying some nice cool weather this week, which means the windows are open welcoming a cool breeze in the house. While cooking dinner tonight the sound of a lawnmower drifted in with the breeze. I had a flash back to my childhood as I stood at the sink cleaning up the current dishes and the pork chops sizzling in the skillet. The sounds and smells took me right back to standing in my Mother's kitchen washing dishes with the back screen door open. I remember hearing the sounds of the neighborhood; kids laughing and yelling to each other, lawn mowers doing their job and the smell of a very good pork chop dinner lingering in the aire. All this takes me back to the "olden" days when things seemed simple. Now I know that it was only simpler because I was just a kid.
I am ready to welcome Autumn with wide open arms. In the meantime, I continue to make salsa. It might sound difficult, but it's really not, just more time consuming than anything. I have learned to be a bit more organized over the years of canning salsa and green beans. Another memory that always comes to mind is remembering my Mother canning pears, peaches, apples and tomatoes.

What else should I use the Rachel Ray trash bowl for other than materials to go into the compost?
Would you believe this food processor is about 30 years old? It was one of our first Christmas presents, still works and does a good job.
