Simple Autumn Pleasures

I always like to write out my Christmas cards in the first part of November. Writing Christmas cards is a joy and tradition I have had for a long time. Groucho likes to make sure he adds a bit of himself to the process.
For years I've had an address book - actually it was a journal book turned into an address book- that needed updating. I had so many addresses scratched out, labels placed over old ones with the new addresses written over them, just a mess. This year it was time to move on and change to a new book. Again I am using a journal book. I got it for my birthday and it was an excellent choice.

I planted Shasta Daisies this past summer and waited all summer for them to bloom. Well, lo and behold look what's blooming. I guess it decided to wait until Autumn to show off it's lovely orange color.

A warm welcome into our humble abode.

Another tradition I have at this time of year is to read seasonal books. This year I read Debbie Macomber's "Mrs. Miracle". It was a nice romantic read. I ordered Mr. Baxter's Christmas, by Edward Streeter (1953), last year after Christmas. I've been waiting all year to read it.

I've read some good ones that you might like to read: Skipping Christmas (better than the movie) John Grisham, The Christmas Train (Excellent) David Baldacci, The Mitford Snowman & Esther's Gift by Jan Karon, The Christmas Blessing by Donna Van Liere, The Christmas Box by Richard Paul Evans, and Tidings of Comfort and Joy (good) by Davis Bunn. Please let me know if you have a favorite Christmas or Hanukkah book that I haven't read.
Ciao!

I just finished "The Spy Who Came for Christmas" by John Morrell.
"A Cup of Christmas Tea" by Tom Hegg
"Redbird Christmas" by Fannie Flagg
"Midnight Before Christmas" by William Bernhardt
to name a few! In addition to the ones you mentioned.
