Woe is me - All's well that ends well

I have to tell you about this past weekend. We kept the Granddog, Cadi (caddy) for the weekend. Cadi is a 1 year old female Beagle, a real sweetheart. All was fine until I came home from work on Saturday and went to check on her. She was GONE! I called DH, who was working too. I canceled a wedding shower I was going to and headed out driving around looking for her. DH came home and drove around too. I put on 75 miles just driving within our area and a couple of miles north of us.
I came home for a break and a neighbor brought down some BBQ that he just took off the grill. (What a blessing.) Cadi is so playful that we thought someone must have her. I drove around for 5 hours on Saturday evening. DH heard dogs barking around 11:30 pm and he went out looking for her.
We got up Sunday morning and hit the roads again. At 1030 am I called our son to tell him about the situation. He was mad, at the dog. They packed up and came home. DH and I put up signs in the neighborhood, asked people - some kids saw her about noon Saturday. We went to the shelter and looked at the dogs there - no Cadi. I told our son to go home and we'll just have to wait for someone to find her and call him. There really wasn't more any of us could do.
They went home and couldn't stand it. They came back down to our area and started driving around. Then he got a call on his cell phone. A man doing some landscaping at his church called because his kids were playing with Cadi. Get this - only 1/2 mile - if even that - from our house. Our son gave the man a nice reward, which he wanted to refuse, but our son told him to do something for his kids with it.
You have to keep your sense of humor - or do you? DH cracked a joke during our search - They're not going to let us keep the grandkids now. LOL Whew! It's funny because I still look for her when driving home.
Sunday afternoon with all my gloom going on - I met up with the - drum roll - "The Showalter Girls"! We had such a great time visiting. I wished we could have had one of our old slumber parties like in our old days. Can't wait to see them again.
Ciao!
