Lazy Hazy Days of Summer

This summer is just whizzing by so fast as I said today that we are in August already. (We are when you look at the work calendar and try to make plans.) Where did June and July go to?

This is Axel; one of the joys of our lives. He had a birthday this weekend with his sisters. Axel and Cadi are two years old and Chloe is about four. He's a sweetheart.
He liked his birthday present - a Happy Birthday Bear. Heck he likes getting a new toy period.

It's a summer tradition at the first of July we call the farmer and go pick up our fresh corn. We have been buying corn from the same farmer for the last 20 years. It is sooooooo goood.

We've been watering the back yard and it looks better today than when I took this picture. Isn't that how it always is????? I would water about 20 minutes and the biggest Earth worms I've ever seen were all over the watered area. I picked them up and put them in the garden before the birds saw them in the grass.

Summer isn't summer without a tennis match. Here's my nephew playing in a championship game.

Lovely lilies to greet the postman. "Hey, Hey wait a mintue Mr. Postman...."

I was visiting with some very dear friends last month. They are old friends and we go back to the day when we went to Kindergarten together. While talking with her Mom I asked if she would share her sweet bread recipe. She was more than happy to share it. The thoughts in my head swirled as I was envisioning an old family recipe written in her Great-Great Grandmother's handwriting and trying to translate the German into English. When Viola! She presents me her Aunt Betty's recipe for Sweet Bread. Aunt Betty Crocker that is!

I have one of these books that belonged to my mother-in-law and had the recipe all these years. I still haven't made the bread, but I plan to.
Ciao! Stay cool
